"Life is shit, yeah, but people are all we have. So I'm gonna help you, so you can help someone else."
Andromeda "Andy" Fang doesn't crack under pressure. She's a trauma surgeon, it's a prerequisite of her job to be tough and to be able to handle bloody and nasty. Perhaps that's what Court "Sierra Six" Gentry likes most about Andy. That, and the fact that, though she acts like she hates everything and everyone, she's actually really kind. Another thing is that she's very trustworthy. For someone who's made a lot of enemies in his life and is running out of options, it could mean life or death.
The last thing Andy expects is to see the man she'd saved years ago at her doorstep, wounded and bleeding, asking for her help. Even more shocking is that he's got a little girl with him, a Claire Fitzroy with a chronic heart condition, who could really use a doctor.
Clearly, something's going on there, something definitely shady and unsavoury, but Andy's taken an oath. One that, as a doctor, she believes in beyond fault ─ and that is to save as many lives as she can, regardless of who it is. So, even though he won't tell her his real name, or what he's been up to, or even the slightest piece of information about himself, Andy's going to help the evasive and enigmatic Six.
